Update: 5/16/24 The light above my storage unit has been repaired for the last 3 or 4 months or so now. I really haven't had any bad experiences with this place other than it took about a year and a half to get the light fixed for my interior climate controlled unit. I have trimmed some details from my previous reviews now that they have fixed the issue I had for so long. Update: 7/19/23. Nearing 300 days since hurricane Ian, and about 180 days since my initial review. Light is still out... Management Said they were working on it. Original review: 12/2022 Clean place, people are friendly but do not keep up with maintenance. Light was out over my interior climate control unit. Management Said it was first they heard of issue even though it was brought to their attention 5 times prior to this review..

Secure, climate controlled storage. Well lit and a variety of sizes. Staff is always helpful. Always enough carts available to transport your items to your unit!! Elevators are available and have always worked when I am there. The only thing I would like to see is more space to drop off and pick up your items

Soo..I have had 2 units here... since well before it changed from "Patriot Self Storage" to "Southern Self Storage" n come across multiple issues in between, usually due to no one's fault.. but my own, n each of which were met, and conquered, by their..... K!Ck @$$ $T@FF, n I will continue to recommend this place.. always n forever!!! I won't forget.. the MULTIPLE times I've lost my keys...or the time I came close to losing everything...which everyone of us have heard the story, where the person loses everything important to them, they somehow l my 8jlose a unit or have all they value sold out from under them in some auction.. n while OBVIOUSLY, I am NOT n do NOT ever recommend being late on a payment...EVER... I will say they showed understanding and kindness n patience and worked with me to where my bill was soon enough paid in full...(which of course..surprised me.. bc u will almost ALWAYS hear the OPPOSITE in reguards to storage units!!) But I'll be forever grateful. Also, The staff remains employed w killer personalities...You could always count on Terri and Carlos, but I've been equally super impressed by Kimberly. Since her arrival, we have been grateful 4 her repeated professionalism, her knowledge, and not just of the rules n regulations of the facility n the units, but of all the surrounding area as well. She sports a cheerful attitude, which seems genuine n contagious.... is just truly appreciated... especially after how she handled finding herself in the middle of some rather embarrassing family drama.. when it landed on her desk (we're sry!!) n that can come alongside moving or that can be found in the midst of all the wonders that come from your entire house flooding.. thx to the surprise attack... of the HoRRiBLe HuRRiCaNe IaN. *~Go on down!!~* *~U won't regret doin it...Go get a unit!~

Terri was incredibly helpful and kind when I came in to rent a unit after Hurricane Ian. The facility is clean and does not have the mothball smell of other facilities. The loading bay can sometimes fill up but there are plenty of carts so you can unload from the parking area. We’ve been very happy with Southern!

I recently lost my home to Hurricane Ian. The building is no longer livable. What I have been able to scavenge that was not damaged due to water intrusion from the roof or the flash flood coming in through the doors, I needed a place to store these things temporarily. Southern self storage sent out an email that they have limited units available, so I was there first thing in the morning and secured a unit. I believe it was the COO who handled the transaction for me, and they could not have been nicer and more understanding. A team member went up to my unit and swapped out their lock for mine and presented me the keys while another team member grabbed a cold water from their fridge for me which was such a treat since we did not have electric since September 28th. I watched them interact with new customers teaching them how to use the keypad, and they were patient with everybody they were talking with and all the interruptions. I can't say enough nice things about the team at southern self storage on Toledo blade boulevard in North Port. I lost my home, and all I have to prove I existed and had a life now fits in a 10x10 unit. It is a comfort for me at least when I relocate to have some familiar things to unpack wherever I end up. I can't believe that I'm a couple years from retirement and have to go through this but I have to trust God who knows what he is doing in my life, wherever that leads me. And I do thank God for the team at Southern Self Storage. They're the best.

Most storage places you can never find a employee not here, always someone to assist you when needed, plenty of carts to help you carry your larger items, super clean, there are nice bathrooms on site and the staff ... More than accommodating and super understanding which is a plus since most times you are renting a storage you are between places and that is stressful enough and all though I personally do not have a storage unit there I have been there several times assisting a friend and from what I have seen I would highly recommend this storage facility.

I had a great experience renting storage space at Southern Self Storage. Security was great & lighting in the storage corridors was good. There were always enough 4 wheel carts in good working condition for the customers. The Place was always clean and odor free. I was always kept apprised of billing dates and was able to use their auto billing to my advantage to keep me within my budget every month. People were friendly and helpful with answers to my questions.

We use Southern Self Storage in North Port for our personal storage, as well as for our business (The Rock Box Music School & Stage). The place is always clean and the staff is friendly. We also love that they have a coded security gate and cameras. We always feel safe knowing our belongings are secure.

Terri and Carlos are extremely helpful! I was able to chose which unit worked best for my belongings and I was very happy with my overall service.

From the first call, they have been extremely helpful. We didn't make it up in time after reserving the unit and they called to make sure everything was alright. Went in the next morning and Carlos was so helpful and pleasant. Everything was clean and neat. Very pleased thus far. Would highly recommend.

This is by far the best Storage facility we have ever used. So much so, we have been with them since they took over the unit several years ago. Can't say enough good things about them, more companies should take a page from their book.

They had me all set up, even though I was a day early. Terri was very helpful to me and my moving crew. Unit was clean, well lit. Helped make a stressful day a little better.

Carlos helped me from my first phone call to the very end of the move into the storage unit. Helped me pick out the correct unit, 10x23 and all the paper work. The movers did the heavy lifting not Carlos. This was done during the Covid-19 pandemic but you would never know it, because everything was so smooth.

My husband and I had a great experience finding the storage unit for our things, terry was very nice and helpful. The place is clean, secure, easy to get around, and affordable prices, wouldnt go anywhere else!

Highly recommended. The staff is amazing here and the grounds and units are always very clean. I never once worried about storing my belongings here. I’ve had thefts from other storage facilities in the area, which helped me to decide on this location. Lots of security cameras on site to help protect your stuff! Also, one of the employees owns a local fishing charter! Not only will they protect your stuff... but they can hook you up with some local fishing!!! I was hooked.

I have been using this facility for years due to different moves or transitions. I have always been satisfied with the service I have received but this time around I could not have done it without the help of Carlos and Terri. Carlos has worked closely with me arranging units to fit my needs since the beginning. At the beginning of the year I only needed the unit for what I though was a month. Fast forward to Sept I was in need of another unit as my new home was still not complete. He quickly helped me with a second unit and saved me money in the process. Then came moving day which as anyone knows is a nightmare in itself. Well needless to say this day came with its own problems including the fact that I under estimated the amount of belongings we needed to store and got a unit to small. At 8pm with a full moving truck and movers waiting to move my stuff in I was faced with the scary fact that I didn’t have enough room nor the truck to store my families belongings in AND that it was past closing time for me to swap for another unit. I panicked and called the number on the door where I was met with someone who told me they would pass along the message but could not guarantee a call. As I am pacing my phone rings not once but twice by Carlos and Terri with a fast solution of a bigger unit and the calming reassurance that everything was going to be ok and that they would wrap up in the details in the morning. What could have been a moving disaster was quickly adverted by the excellent service and care of this staff. I will never use another facility as I know I am always taken care of at Southern Self Storage. My movers were floored by the way it was handled as well and are also recommending this facility to any future customers. Carlos and Terri I cannot thank you enough for all you have done for me!!! You guys are what makes this place so great on top of the excellent prices, secure location, AC, and the other admendities that come with renting a unit. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! You are #1 in the area for anyone’s storage needs!!

Carlos and Terri are the most amazing people I have ever had to work with during this crazy move! Not only did they correct my mistake of getting a unit not big enough at 8PM when the office wasn’t open, but they made me feel so calm and at peace knowing it was all handled and that I wasn’t going to have to pay more for an overnight hold with the moving company. I cannot stress how much I already loved this facility but due to the quick, efficient, and calming actions of both Terri and Carlos, I will always recommend Southern Self Storage to anyone I meet who hold storage needs. Myself , my family, and my movers were floored by how quick that mistake was fixed and I cannot say thank you enough!!!! Great company because of their AMAZING staff!!!

I really like Southern South Storage. I've had my things from up North in there for a year and a half. My stuff is inside where it's air conditioning. They also spray inside for insects. They have outside storage also. You will really like this place.

The staff is really nice and friendly, they really do give you free truck rental, with the use of one of their storage units. You just replace gas used. It’s a really nice and clean storage facility.

I've been renting a unit from them for the past 3+ years and have never had an issue. I moved out of state for those 3 years and when I came back my unit was still in great shape. No bugs and no mold. Very pleased with them and I highly recommend using them for your storing needs. And the prices are great!

I had been renting a storage unit at this facility prior to the Southern Self Storage takeover. I would have to say that the transition was smooth, the facility upkeep is as good as it was before and the staff are helpful and friendly. I would recommend this storage facility to anyone needing extra storage space.
